In The Graveyard

from Children Of The Night by ENERGY

/

about

This was the first Children Of The Night song we ever wrote. After re-imagining and recording several Misfits cover songs, I realized that we should be doing our own originals in that style. One day I thought up the line "I saw you in the graveyard last night", brought the idea to Mike's, and we completed the song right then and there.

I remember this being the first song I'd ever recorded that I was completely pleased with. Satisfied with the way it sounded, the performance, and most importantly - the songwriting. Looking back I find myself cringing at some of the music Energy made when we first started, but this song has passed the 5 year test and I am certain it will pass the 10, the 20, and so forth. I truly believe that this is a great, timeless song. ~ Tank

lyrics

I saw you in the graveyard last night
I saw your dead eyes gleaming in the moonlight
You looked so pretty with the worms in your hair
Your face was rotting away but I just didn't care
So I kissed you
Oh, how I missed you

The night was so young
But you were so dead
And we've just begun
No matter what they've said

And I remember when we held each other tight
And I remember when I drove you home that night
You said it was over and you kissed me goodbye
I'll never see you with any other guy
So I kissed you
Oh how I'll miss you

The night was so young
But you were so dead
And we've just begun
No matter what they've said

And you went without a fight
When I took your life that night
Your hands and feet were tightly bound
Now you're six feet underground
